xTupleCon 2014 Keynotes

Tuesday, October 14, 2014 — xTupleCon Agenda — Chrysler Hall [directions]

VIP Keynote plus Cocktail Welcome Reception and Meet & Greet
Steve Wozniak, Co-founder of Apple Computer, Inc., Silicon Valley icon, and Chief Scientist of Fusion-io (in partnership with The Norfolk Forum)
xTuple is happy to welcome "Woz" given our long and happy affiliation with Apple products, including desktops, MacBooks, iPhones and iPads. Steve Wozniak helped shape the computing industry with his design of Apple's first line of products - the Apple I and II - and influenced the popular Macintosh. In 1976, Wozniak and Steve Jobs founded Apple Computer, Inc., with Wozniak's Apple I personal computer. The following year, he introduced his Apple II personal computer, featuring a central processing unit, a keyboard, color graphics, and a floppy disk drive. The Apple II was integral in launching the personal computer industry.
Private xTupleCon14 meet-and-greet is 5:30pm-7:00pm, followed by talk at 7:30pm.

Welcome to "Days of Future Apps"
Ned Lilly, xTuple CEO
At last year's inaugural xTupleCon, Ned warned attendees that the 2014 theatrical release of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" may lead to a thematic tie-in with xTupleCon14. As it happens, "Days of Future Apps" speaks perfectly to several major themes in xTuple product and service development - embracing the future, new technologies, new platforms, and more flexibility to make your business software do what you need it to do.

"ERP Trends Converge: Translating Technology for the Enterprise"
Cindy Jutras, Mint Jutras [BIO]
You can’t pick up an article today without being bombarded with “big trends” in enterprise software. We hear that cloud deployments will take over, and about the prevalence of mobile devices and the resultant “consumerization of IT.” “Social” takes on new meaning. And then, as if we weren’t already bombarded with enough data, there’s “big data.” Today in order to be effective these trends must converge with a common goal of making innovation and ERP itself easier to consume.
"Supply Chain Management Trends — Big Ships & Deep Canals Impact on Your Business"
Sara Russell, ODU Strome College of Business, Maritime Institute [BIO]
Today at the world’s largest seaports, vessels characterized as Post-Panamax and now Ultra Large Container Vessels (ULCVs) are regular callers. These massive cargo vessels require changes to shipping models. Port infrastructures, intermodal mechanisms, warehousing and inventory control processes must reconfigure and adapt to the changes on the ocean and the subsequent effects to global supply chains. Learn how expansion projects at the Panama Canal and updates to the Suez Canal will impact Virginia, the U.S. and your business.
