All we had to do was purchase the software and several licenses and see how we liked it. We could do the implementation ourselves, at our pace. Overall, xTuple gave us alternatives that no other vendor could.
Webinar-How to Choose the Right Material Requirements Planning System for Lean Inventory Management
Knowledge Management Series
Track: Operations & Planning
Topic: How to Choose the Right Material Requirements Planning (MRP) System for Lean Inventory Management
"If you fail to plan, then plan to fail" is an adage that absolutely applies to manufacturing. Manufacturing resource planning software, also called material requirements planning, is the core technology that sets manufacturing applications apart from other types of business software. This added functionality also adds complexity, both in implementation and in operation. MRP - a subset of enterprise resource planning (ERP) - covers the period of time from when a product is conceived, the raw materials are identified and procured, resources are identified, to when production steps are planned. In contrast to just in time inventory (a demand-pull production system), MRP is a plan-push system, and in contrast to advanced planning system (a forward scheduling system) it is a backward-scheduling system.
In this webinar, we investigate what tools are available for small- to medium-sized manufacturing companies in both discrete and batch process production; make to order, make to stock or mixed-mode; even contract manufacturing, job shops and engineer-to-order, as part of an integrated suite including accounting, CRM and more.
